Litter Warden Scheme

Medway Valley Walk near East Farleigh

The aim of the scheme is to co-ordinate and support local people in patrolling specific sections of the Medway Towpath in order to keep the river as 'clean and green' as possible. So far the scheme has been awarded four Queen Mothers birthday awards for environmental improvement. The more people involved the better for the countryside, so every person who volunteers counts!

The role of the MVCP is to supply volunteers with their very own 'Litter Warden Kit' consisting of: Litter bags, litterpicker, gloves, t-shirt, sweatshirt, s.a.e's and report forms.

The scheme currently extends along the Medway Valley Walk from Haysden Country Park, Tonbridge to Aylesford near Maidstone.

The scheme is due to be extended along the River Len, where necessary, to further publicise the problems that litter creates in the countryside for the environment and river users.
